David Neal Restoration

David Neal is an exceptional antique furniture restorer who with his many years experience and knowledge can lovingly return antique furniture back to its natural state, using only traditional skills and restoration techniques. He has a real respect for the history of antique pieces and gives them the level of attention they deserve. Not only that, he is able to replicate pieces of furniture or wooden items so that they can be exactly matched! He has copied chairs to add to or make up a set as well as copying well-loved pieces such as clocks which are to be handed down as an heirloom.

He first established over 35 years ago, where he  was traditionally trained by his uncle who was a master cabinetmaker. From his workshops in Denbigh in Wales, his business has grown on an amazing reputation amongst both trade and private customers for his unique and expert craftsmanship as well as his passion for his trade. David’s work has even appeared at Christies and Sotheby’s, and in museums, plus he is trusted by the insurance industry, loss assessors and adjustors.

So no matter if your piece has a small watermark, is damaged & neglected, or simply in need of being reproduced, then David Neal is here to help with his expert skills and attention to detail. He will meticulously repair your piece of furniture, and match the original wood and patina so the damage will completely disappear; and for replicas, you wouldn’t be able to tell which was the original.

David has become renowned as the North West’s premier authority on all furniture repairs, restorations and preservations of antique furniture as well as the use of traditional skills when restoring and repairing. His overall skills include all aspects of furniture restoration such as: carving, marquetry, veneering, colouring and polishing. The final aspect however of furniture repair is usually the polishing and David’s finishing skills are second to none! He makes his own recipe bees-wax polish, which will feed and preserve the wood, giving it a rich, deep shine.

Please do not hesitate to get in contact with David for further information on any of his services – he would love to hear from you!
